On the 5th February, Julie Currie, CMS Ireland Youth Worker, gave a presentation on the 2008 Project, “FOOTSTEPS” with her now familiar enthusiasm and passion. Julie writes… WELCOME to this years CMS Ireland Annual Project—Footsteps based in Kenya. Let me take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to be part of this project and supporting the work of CMS Ireland. Footsteps is a brand new children’s resource, overflowing with activities to keep all your young people enthralled and engaged in Kenya. It’s aim is to inform, inspire and introduce world mission to young people through hands on activities and God’s word. Kenya is a vibrant and colourful country with an amazingly diverse population, represented by more than 70 different ethnic groups - a wonderful multi-coloured canvas of cultures, traditions, customs and varied environments. Schools in Kajiado Diocese in Southern Kenya. The church in Kajiado is reaching out to the community of Kajiado and the surrounding towns to show Gods love in a very practical way. They hope to invest time, money and resources to help young people achieve their best and reach their potential for their future by supporting primary schools. WHAT CAN WE DO……50p could buy an exercise book for one of the pupils. £1 would provide educational posters to support teaching and decorate the bare walls. £25 is enough for a wooden desk to be made at the Maasai Regional Training Centre that sits three people. £150 would pay for a concrete floor to be laid in a dusty classroom, to make life a lot more comfortable and improve the teaching/learning environment. £500 could buy a new corrugated iron roof for a school classroom. The Footsteps project is taking us to Kajiado Diocese to invest in the future, as it works to build and restore local primary schools. …..Where will your footsteps take you?........... Thank you again for your support. Yours in Christ, Julie. This project provides us with a wonderful opportunity to put into practice the words of the beautiful hymn, “The greatest thing in all my life”. Know God. Love God. Serve God. We hope you will follow the project in Outreach over the next few months and support the Young Seekers in their fundraising efforts for yet another very worthwhile and deserving project. Many thanks. Avra, Kim & Sharon. |
